Rikugien is one of the famous daimyo garden from the Edo period located near Komagome station. This garden was constructed by Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu who was a Sobayounin (Lord Chamberlain) of the 5th shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi. The construction took seven years. A pond is placed in the center of the garden for people to stroll around enjoying views in each season. This style is called as Kaiyu style (circuit style). Many places in the garden were named after places or views described in waka (Japanese poetry) or Chinese historical fact.
