Ozawa Yougashiten
A family-owned small shop, “Ozawa Yougashiten” is located in a residential area. They have stuck to handmade baking since its establishment 52 years ago. At the present, the shop is managed by two chefs, the founder of the shop, Hisashi Ozawa and the second-generation owner, Takeshi Ozawa.

This shop became very popular because of “Strawberry Chande” which they have made for 40 years. They put a fresh strawberry with a whipped cream crown on a crispy house-made cookie and coat them with chocolate. The key to deliciousness is precious harmony of these four different textures.

When they started making “Strawberry Chande,” it was a sweet that neighborhood children came to buy with their allowance. However, after introduced in mass media about 10 years ago, the shop received many inquiries from all over the country. They make 500 to 600 of them during the busy season like St. Valentine’s Day and White Day, but they are often sold out before noon.

We asked their service stuff, Rie Ozawa how “Strawberry Chande” was born. “At that time, strawberries were small and sour. So, the founder of this shop tried to make them taste good and created “Strawberry Chande.” The shape of strawberry with whipped cream on top looked like a candle with light and they named it “Strawberry Chandelier.” And then it changed over time and became “Strawberry Chande.”

There are also standard cakes in the case such as shortcake, cheesecake, custard cream puff, double cream puff and éclair. Moreover, there are seasonal cakes like pistachio tart and strawberry tart. So, you may be attracted to many different cakes. Their colorful sweets make you happy, so please find your favorite.
