Furusato Matsuri Tokyo 2020
The theme of “Furusato Matsuri Tokyo” is “Traditional performances and foods from all over Japan.” With specially selected performances and local foods, this winter festival is a joy to the eye and the stomach.
This year marks the 12th year of this event. 20 groups of local festival will show their performance from day to day including “Kochi Yosakoi Festival” and “Okinawa Zento Eisa Matsuri,” and also two debutants, “Kuroishi Yosare” and “Fukuchiyama Odori.” The groups from “Aomori Nebuta Festival,” one of the biggest three festival of Shikoku “Niihama Taiko Matsuri” and “Akita Kanto Festival” bring out their real floats and poles with lanterns.
“Nigiwaiichi” is the collection of regional dishes. From luxury foods like sea urchin, salmon roe or branded beef to regional ramen and traditional dishes, 300 kinds of dishes are gathered here. And you can enjoy them with more than 100 kinds of regional sake and craft beer.
In the popular program called “Japan Local Donburi Championship,” 14 kinds of donburi compete for first place that will be elected by visitors. The last year’s top three donburi and 11 donburi that won the preliminary contests participate this year. Let’s try different kinds of donburi and vote for your favorite!
“Special night event” is held between 18:00 and 21:00 every night. It turns this site into a huge night festival. On January 16th, 2020, they hold a bon-dance festival called “DJ KOO x Agehabijou Dancing Night” where every visitor can dance! This event made everyone in Tokyo Dome dance last year and it must liven up the site this time.
The popular programs, “Local Bread Festival” and “Ikemen Stamp Rally” are also held this year. And more than 60 local characters come to warm up “Furusato Matsuri Tokyo 2020.” Don’t miss the hottest festival of winter in Japan!
